Obama is cleaning house...

The Obama Administration Monday revealed top secret documents about the Bush era, that will either open up a can of worms or make us face a hard reality.

I think the latter will be most prevalent regarding this issue because we have to come to terms with what can of worms did Bush not open.

According to this AP article
"The Justice Department released 9 legal opinions showing that, following the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, the Bush administration determined that certain constitutional rights would not apply during the coming fight. Within two weeks, government lawyers were already discussing ways to wiretap U.S. conversations without warrants."
O.K. my head is spinning right now as I asses the paragraph above trying to come to a rational conclusion.

The only thing I can process right now is the irrational stuff.
  • They did what?
  • They suspend constitutional rights,
  • How is that possible
  • Isn't that a characteristic of Dictatorship government not a democratic one.

Now I can process the rational theories.
  • After 9/11 our world was in the tailspin, maybe the Bush Administration was doing everything it could think of to keep Americans safe.
That is the only rational conclusion I can come up with.

The article goes on to say that
"The Obama Administration also acknowledged in court documents Monday that the CIA destroyed 92 videos of involving terroe suspects, including interrogations-- far more than had been known. Congressional Democrats and other critics have charged that some of the harsh interrogation techniques amounted to torture, a contention President George W. Bush and other Bush officials rejected."
This article is now just pissing me off.

Really, I thought we were the good guys?

Yes, I understand American safety is the top priority here but at who's expense, and how far is our government going to go, apparently so far as to ignore basic human rights.

If the U.S. does not do the right thing then who will?

So with the release of these documents hopefully we can learn from this, as people and as a nation.

I believe the Obama Administration did the right thing in making public these documents, so lets the cleansing process begin to get rid of those worms.
