So as I was looking for some inspiration for my blog topic I stumbled across a story about an NY Times columnist David Brooks who wants Michelle Obama to cover up.
Brooks does not like the first lady showing her arms and he even went as far to name them thunder and lightning.
In an opinion piece written by his colleague Maureen Dowd, Brooks told Dowd that Michelle Obama has made her point and now it is time to put them away.
He also said that he believes the reason Barack Obama ran for president is so his wife would have a platform to show off her biceps.
I really doubt that.
My thinking is Brooks has puny arms and is jealous that the first lady can probably kick his butt!
Don't cover your arms Michelle, they look great.
I guess the first ladies toned biceps have been seen as threatening to people.
I wouldn't doubt that she could probably knock a couple of them out, and she probably should.
Here is the opinion piece written by Maureen Dowd.
He must be a Republican, because a Democrat knows this era is all about change, and the First Lady seems to be showing off her biceps in a conservative way. But let me guess, he wanted her to be covered up like Sarah Palain. Speaking of her, didnt her daughter dump her baby daddy? Y
ReplyDeleteGood title Diana. I like the pun.
ReplyDeleteI cannot believe this is even an issue. It goes to show you anyone will say anything to make a little noise-even at the risk of sounding silly. Michelle has great arms, and if anything, the writer should be talking about her being in good shape... Having a strong woman in office is important, but her actual having some physical strength is kinda cool.
Whatever... this writer's obviously has some insecurity issues with her own "guns." How sad. My advice to her is to hit the gym.
I hate to say this and sound crass but WHAT A DOUCHE!
ReplyDeleteLoved the way you got in on this mini controversy. You should check out Maureen Dowd a few weeks ago on the same topic.
