UPI Boston Globe On his way home from Turkey, Barack Obama made a surprise visit to war-torn Bagdad, this is Obama's first visit to Iraq while in office.
The President has pushed for all combat troops to leave the country by August 2010, but he has stated that the reality can be until 2011.
Obama spoke to U.S. troops and stated
"They need to take responsibility for their country.""I opposed the war in Iraq, I thought it was a bad idea. Now that we're there, I have a responsibility to make sure that as we bring troops out that we do so in a careful enough way that we don't see a complete collapse into violence."
It wont matter when the troops come home, as long as they do. I think President Obama lifted the troops spirits by making the visit. I was watching Black Hawk down on TBS, and I agree the troops departure should be in a very timely matter.
